Decision Announcing the Extension of the Notice Period for Residential Properties to 365 Days in Cases of Non-Renewal for Personal Use

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Real Estate General Authority (REGA),

based on the authorities legally delegated to him;

according to paragraph (2) of Article (VIII) of the Legal Provisions Regulating Relationship between Lessor and Lessee, issued under the Royal Decree No. (M/73), dated 02/04/1447 AH.; and

based on the Resolution No. (470000480), dated 02/07/1447 AH,

resolves as follows: 

First: To apply the notice period stated in the aforesaid Resolution to all residential lease agreements valid upon the enforcement of the Legal Provisions Regulating Relationship between Lessor and Lessee.

Second: In case of the failure to meet the notice period amounting to (365) days before the expiry date of a lease agreement, the lease agreement shall be renewed as much as required for completing such notice period as of the date of serving a notice of unwillingness to renew the lease agreement.

Third: This Resolution shall be published in official gazette and shall be applicable as of its date.
