The Real Estate General Authority (REGA) is participating in the World Urban Forum, held in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt, from 4–8 November 2024, as part of the Saudi pavilion, which brings together more than 30 national governmental and private entities. This participation aims to highlight the Kingdom’s pioneering role in achieving global targets for sustainable urban development and its contribution to shaping the regional and global urban landscape.
REGA’s participation in the World Urban Forum 2024—the largest global event dedicated to discussing challenges related to sustainable urban development—comes as part of its strategic role in strengthening collaboration among real estate sector leaders, policymakers, and global experts. It aims to support overcoming urban challenges and drive the growth of the Saudi real estate sector toward more modern and forward-looking horizons, by adopting international best practices in sustainable urban planning and design. These efforts ensure that urban development projects are aligned with principles of sustainability and environmental responsibility.
During its engagement in the forum’s dialogue sessions and workshops, REGA is presenting the Saudi “real estate legislation system”, including the Law of Real Estate Registration (Real Estate Registry)—a core pillar for enabling urban transformation. This law plays a vital role in regulating land tenure and documenting property ownership with full transparency and accuracy. In addition, REGA is showcasing the Off-Plan Real Estate Projects Sale and Lease Law and its Regulations, both of which represent important legislative frameworks for real estate governance. REGA’s participation focuses on highlighting the economic investment opportunities and enablers within the Saudi real estate market, as well as the pivotal role of innovation, digital transformation, and the adoption of real estate technologies in unlocking future potential in the sector. These tools empower both local and international developers and investors to benefit optimally from real estate assets and opportunities while helping build sustainable urban communities that reflect the strength and reliability of the Kingdom’s investment environment and real estate market.
It is worth noting that the Saudi pavilion at the World Urban Forum spans over 3,000 square meters, and features designated spaces for meetings, workshops, dialogue sessions, signing platforms, a VIP area, and booths for participating national entities. The pavilion will also host over 40 interactive activities and welcomes more than 150 representatives from Saudi entities. The Saudi delegation’s agenda includes eleven high-level sessions addressing key urban development challenges and solutions—particularly those related to future housing, climate-related urban challenges, and technological advancements in urban planning.
