REGA: Next Thursday Marks End of Property Registration Period for 18 Districts in Riyadh and Makkah
The Real Estate General Authority (REGA) announced the upcoming deadline for the first phase of real estate title registration in (18) districts across Riyadh and Makkah, which will conclude by the end of next Thursday, 25 Safar 1446 Hijri, corresponding to 29 August 2024.
REGA clarified that the registration period will end in (10) districts in Riyadh City: (Al-Mahdiyah District, Al-Khuzama District, Arqah District, Zahrat Laban District, Al-Safarat District, Namar District, Al-Marwah District, Shabra District, Badr District, and Al-Shifa District). Additionally, the registration period will conclude in (8) districts in Makkah: (part of Al-Safwah District, part of Dar Al-Salam District, part of Al-Hijrah District, Dakher Project including Al-Jummayzah District and Rai Dakher District, Masar Makkah Project – Section One – including part of Al-Nuzhah District, part of Al-Raseefah District, and the Jabal Omar Project including Jurhom North District).
REGA urged property owners in these districts to promptly register their properties through the Real Estate Registry Platform (rer.sa) before the deadline, in order to benefit from real estate transaction services and the documentation of any updates or changes related to their properties.
REGA explained that real estate title registration enables the issuance of a "Property Number" and a Title Registration Deed for each registered real estate unit. The new Title Registration Deed includes the property’s precise geographical location, owner details, descriptions, condition, associated rights and obligations, and all real estate transactions related to it. This serves as the foundation for documenting ownership and the corresponding real estate rights, contributing to the sustainability and development of the real estate sector and its key enablers.
REGA emphasized that failing to register properties within the specified period outlined in the announcement decision will expose owners to financial penalties as stipulated in the Real Estate Registration Law, with penalties determined by a specialized violations committee. REGA also clarified that real estate title registration applications will continue to be accepted in all announced regions even after the specified registration period ends.
It is worth noting that the National Real Estate Registration Services Company (Real Estate Registry) is responsible for implementing the establishment and management of the Real Estate Registry in the Kingdom, using modern technologies and geospatial data through an integrated digital platform that contributes to enhancing transparency and trust in real estate services and data.
