The Real Estate General Authority (REGA) announced that the Electronic Network for Rental Services, “Ejar,” has registered more than (10) million rental contracts since its launch, with a daily average of (19,000) contracts. Of these, residential contracts accounted for over (8.3) million, representing (82.3%) of the total, while commercial contracts reached (1.7) million, comprising (17.6%) of all contracts registered on the platform. Since the beginning of 2024, more than (1.5) million contracts have been documented through Ejar, including over (1.2) million residential rental contracts and (283,000) commercial contracts.
REGA clarified that these figures reflect the increasing reliability and efficiency of the residential and commercial rental market, supported by robust real estate legislation. Ejar has provided tenants, landlords, and real estate brokers with a high level of transparency in real estate transactions. This includes verification of ownership documents and identities of contract parties through integration with partner government agencies, dealing exclusively with REGA-licensed brokers, digital contract documentation and approvals, and the use of electronic payment channels—Mada and Sadad—to securely document and verify payments. These measures have streamlined the rental process while safeguarding the rights of all parties involved.
REGA added that Ejar offers a range of advanced features that enhance trust and improve the efficiency of transactions. These include a rental price indicator, handover and delivery documentation, deposit preservation, rental behavior assessments, and the option for partial payment in installments. The platform also supports multiple payment frequencies—annual, semi-annual, quarterly, and monthly—along with strategic partnerships that allow service transfers under the name of the actual user of the rental unit. These features contribute to enriching the rental sector and fostering a favorable environment for investment.
It is worth noting that Ejar provides significant benefits to the commercial rental sector through its digital integration with various government and private sector entities, including the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Investment, and the Baladi platform.
